From Italy to the conquest of China with Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing

It seems to be the future. Or rather, the present. It is artificial intelligence , that is, the set of sophisticated technologies with which machines are able to carry out complex operations, in some ways similar to human activities. If the potential of Cloud Computing is also exploited, the project can only be a winner. Obviously, intelligence is a capacity reserved for humans since it requires the ability to think and make decisions independently. However, some advanced computer systems are able to partially replicate these activities, showing a certain aptitude for reasoning and decision-making skills. From Italy, more precisely from Sicily, a team of “brilliant minds” went to conquer China and the whole world to set up a project without barriers.

Motus Operandi

It is a start-up founded in Hong Kong in 2017 to put together an international team based on a project that by its nature cannot have geographical barriers of any kind. The technology behind Motus Operandi was developed by an Italian team led by engineer Vincenzo Cartelli who operates from Catania. CEO of the startup is Marco Maritati, also Sicilian, while from China operates the COO Kiel DiGiovanni, a second-generation American but also with obvious Italian origins. The rest of the team combines Chinese talents and more.
In Motus Operandi – explains Marco Maritati – We focus on the intelligent movement of robotic arms in manufacturing industries. We optimize energy consumption and productivity, thereby increasing the profitability of robotic applications while significantly reducing the cost of operations. We are proud that our technology also has a great ecological impact, less consumption means reducing global CO2 emissions”.

A technology that reduces consumption and increases performance

Contemporary factories where equipment and products of all kinds are assembled are highly automated, but they consume billions of dollars of electricity every year. Automotive plants, in particular, have long understood this problem and are constantly lookingfor a solution to reduce the energy consumption of robots operating on their assembly lines.
“We have developed a software solution – explains Vincenzo Cartelli – which effectively reduces the operating costs of robot applications. Our solution is inspired by the movement of the human arm and can improve a robot’s energy efficiency by 40%, its speed by 24% and its lifespan by 10%.”

It increases relentlessly and will continue to grow. In 2020, it reached energy costs of about $10 billion. This is why it is important, indeed indispensable, to find less impactful and more virtuous solutions. “To understand how our Artificial Intelligence system works in the Cloud, – explains Maritati – Think of navigators for cars. These systems automatically find the best route for us to travel efficiently. Motus’ technology does the same for industrial robots, it automatically finds and generates the best path for a robot’s movement.”
